Master Course in Biomedical Sciences
Providing up-to-date knowledge of current advances in biomedical sciences, you will gain a sound understanding of genetics and microbiology, and a thorough comprehension of the chemical process which supports life. This includes structure, function and metabolism, and the control of carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acids and proteins. In your final year you can choose to focus your studies in a specialist area and will have the oppotunity to study microbiological and immunological techniques, medical microbiology, pain research, the science of analgesia or microbial biotechnology. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS UK & EU INTERNATIONAL 180 POINTS REQUIRED UCAS Tariff Points: 180 points required. (Minimum of 120 points from 2 A Levels or equivalent excluding General Studies and including 80 points in a biological science). Additional Requirements: GCSE English Language and Maths at grade C or above or equivalent. Key Skills/Functional Skills Level 2 and the Certificate in Adult Literacy/Numeracy are accepted in place of GCSEs. In a relevant subject, pass Access to HE Diploma overall with 60 credits. A minimum of 45 credits at Level 3, with Merit must be achieved. At Least 15 Level 3 credits must be in Biology and 15 level 3 credits must be in other science subjects. Pass IB Diploma with 24 points. IELTS:IELTS 6.0 with no skills below 5.5, or an equivalent qualification. The University provides excellent support for any applicant who may be required to undertake additional English language courses. Mature StudentsOur University welcomes applications from mature applicants who demonstrate academic potential. We usually require some evidence of recent academic study, for example completion of an access course, however relevant work and life experience may also be considered. Please note that for some of our professional courses all applicants will need to meet the specified entry criteria and in these cases relevant work and life experiences cannot be considered in lieu.
