BSc (Hons) Social Work
Given the increasing opportunity and demand for social workers at both national and international level, a full-time BSc (Hons) Social Work degree programme is being proposed. The programme aims at providing school-leavers (those who want to develop a career in Social Work) with the opportunity to join for a three-year full-time degree-level qualification in Social Work. The learning outcomes of the programme are as follows: (i) to develop knowledge and skills in the practice of social work methods. Specifically, produce social work practitioners who are accountable, reflective and function in a self- critical manner, sensitive to cultural diversity and impact of injustice and inequality on individuals; (ii) to create understanding of theories about human development and behaviour, management science and social research methodology and incorporate these into social work practice and social policy; (iii) to produce graduates with high level of transferable skills in critical reasoning and problem- solving, as well as more generic skills such as time management, communication, problem solving skills, and able to perform at regional and international levels; and (iv) to broaden the knowledge on international and comparative studies within social welfare.
