DESCRIPTION

This programme is aimed at registered pharmacists working in community, primary or secondary care practice who wish to develop the knowledge and skills needed to meet the challenges presented by developments in pharmacy practice. This programme will equip you to provide pharmaceutical care to patients, manage your personal and professional development and introduce new services to the workplace. Special Features: Research-based Learning: Our high-quality research informs national and international policy and practice to ensure the safe and effective use of medicines. In particular, our research into reducing medication errors and improving safety in care homes has had a significant impact on policy and practice, as has our work on medicines information for patients. There is an opportunity to conduct research under the supervision of these teams at the dissertation stage. What will you gain from the programme? The skills and knowledge to provide pharmaceutical care to patients, manage your personal and professional development and introduce new services to the workplace Benefit from flexibility within modules, allowing you to develop skills in the most appropriate areas of practice and a workbased learning focus with assessment methods directly linked to your practice The opportunity to be assessed, to provide medicines use reviews and prescription intervention under the community pharmacy contract The support needed to meet the requirements of the GPhC for recording CPD and the NHS Knowledge and Skills Framework An in-depth understanding of techniques for evaluating and managing the risk associated with prescribing, supplying and administering medicines to ensure patient safety Benefit from flexibility within the modules, which allows pharmacists to develop as flexible practitioners according to specific interests and workplace opportunities An opportunity to evaluate current issues and research in pharmacy and develop research skills enabling you to carry out a dissertation project related to pharmacy practice Key facts TYPE PGT YEAR OF ENTRY 201415 QUALIFICATION MSC FEES Funded study for the NHS Staff working within the Yorkshire and the Humber Region: Our fully funded Masters programmes will provide the skills for you to innovate, influence and deliver to meet the challenges ahead. Employees working in the NHS postgraduate study. Fully funded places are limited, are very popular and often oversubscribed. We advise you to plan your training early as early as possible with your manager, well before the deadline of 29 June, otherwise these funded places will have been allocated.
