This exciting interdisciplinary degree programme builds on our international reputation in the study of religion and public life and will appeal to students who are interested in the relationship between religion, politics and society both locally and globally. You will take an exciting range of modules which give you a grounding in study of religion, political theory and sociology, as well as choosing modules which develop your particular interests. In your final year you will produce a substantial independent research project in which you will be encouraged to demonstrate your ability to integrate the different disciplinary approaches. You may choose to do a fieldwork based study, in order to test your theoretical and conceptual understanding against the experience of communities in Leeds. You will work with specialist module leaders to develop your ability to demonstrate coherent and detailed subject knowledge and understanding, informed by recent research/scholarship in the global and local study of Religion, Politics and Society.
